In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth I lay my hands upon thy head as thou hast no father to bless thee with a father's blessing. Thou art of the tribe of Benjamin and inasmuch as thou shalt live humble before the Lord thou shalt receive Benjamin's portion. Thou art entitled to the priesthood with all the blessings and privileges thereunto belonging. Thou hast left thy native land to dwell among the saints which is well pleasing in the sight of the Lord. The spirit whispereth that thou hast a mission to fill in thy native land. Therefore dear brother gird on the gospel armor and make up thy mind to cross the mighty deep. Thou shalt have power to rebuke the winds and waves on thy passage if they rise to oppose thee. Thou shalt have power to confound all who rise in opposition to thy ministry. Thou shalt proclaim the gospel throughout the city of Edinburgh as with the voice of a trumpet. Many of the haughty and proud of that city shall humble themselves through thy words. Great men shall be brought down and many shall acknowledge the truth. Thou shalt go through the length and breadth of Scotland and shall perform a mighty Mission among thy Brethren. Through thy means many of them shall rejoice in the Kingdom of god. Thou shalt have power to redeem all thy friends both dead and living. Thou shalt be blessed in thy family and thy children shall be useful in pushing forward the cause of Zion. Thou art not especially called to preach to the different nations of the Earth. When thou hast finished thy mission thou shalt return to Zion in peace and there have an inheritance in peace with thy family and great shall be thy joy. Thou shalt be a counselor in the Church forever. I seal all these blessings upon thy head if thou wilt be sober and temperate in all things and faithful and I seal thee up unto eternal life In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. |
Brother George Bentley Teeples, as thou hast desired it I place my hands upon thy head to pronounce and seal a blessing upon thee, that thy heart may be comforted. For years past thy mind has been troubled. Thou has prayed unto the Lord for strength and grace sufficient for thy day, and I say unto thee be comforted, for the Lord hath heard thy petitions. He knoweth the secrets of thy heart and will reward thee as thou shalt merit. Over many things thou hast been faithful for which thou shalt also receive thy reward. Therefore I say unto thee, from this time forward, be obedient to the laws of god, and seek wisdom and thou shalt desire a change, therefore let thy faith fail not. Thou hast suffered privations and witnessed trying events for the Gospel's sake. Therefore I say unto thee be at rest in thy mind. Seek to know the will of the Lord and strive to do thy duty and it shall be well with thee, for thy memory shall be strengthened as you reflect upon the past. Thy mind shall be enlightened as you look forward to the future. Therefore as thy duty is made known unto thee by the spirit seek to perform the same for thou art numbered among the fathers in Israel, therefore prepare thy self to go down to thy grave like a shock of corn fully ripe for the garner of our Lord. Counsel in righteousness among thy posterity that they may receive benefit from the experience which thou hast had in the past. Thou art of the blood of Joseph and thy name shall be written in the chronicles of thy fathers with thy brethren. Thou shalt also realize that the hand of the Lord has been over thee for good. Therefore give praise unto him. This blessing I seal up on thy head with the forgiveness of thy sins in the name of Jesus Christ and I seal thee up unto eternal life to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection as a king among thy kindred. Even so amen. |
