Sister Leah, according to my office and calling, I lay my hands upon thy head and confer upon thee a patriarchal and fathers blessing. Thou hast inherited patience and humility from thy great ancestor Leah of old, who was tried in her spirit, but faithful to her trust, and from her sprang many people as there will from you in due course of time.
Your blood dates back from Jacob of Israel and you are worthy of your lineage which was handed down through Ephraim. The meekness of thy spirit and the righteous desires of thy heart will not be lost sight for you were previously appointed unto great things in mortality. The nature of that appointment was for a wise purpose taken from you when you entered this body, but as you advance in years the inspiration of the Lord will reveal to thee of this earthly mission, here a little, and there a little, until you will become wise in your day and dispensation.
You're among the weak things of the earth, but just in your childishness, but as you advance in years put away childish things. You don't know of the greatness of thy spirit, which came from the hands of thy Father. He has appointed special agents to come and look after thee. Your mother in Heaven passed through a veil of tears, just as you're required to do, and she became perfect through suffering and through obedience and now sits enthroned in yonder Heaven, glorified with the Father, the Lord himself, just as you will be when you have reached the highest standard of perfection, and this can only be done through perfect obedience to the laws of the lord.
You have and will see many things of but little moment and your heart may have followed after some of them. Learn thou in thy youth the principle of prayer, for it is that which opens up a communion between earth and Heaven. Learn to know the spirit is easily offended and may leave thee for cause when you can least afford it. Get thy feet upon holy ground, never try to satisfy thy curiosities from diverting from the path of duty.
You are one of but many who are just budding into womanhood and usefulness. You have womanly functions and will have desires in keeping with them, and let me warn thee against the flattering tongue of mankind. Should you meet with those you know not, keep thyself sufficiently aloft from them until you have received, through earnest prayer, what shall be your course. For what is and should be the noblest thing among the children of men a perfect mateship, for this was fore ordained, and be thou not satisfied until you have reached a high standard of mortal life as the Lord shall direct, and then thy name will be honored wherever you go. Thou art capable of increasing year by year, until you will be perfect in thy Redeemer, and will sit upon an exalted throne as the Lord shall give thee, and it must be and will be with a favored son of the Lord.
Do not let evil imaginations stay in thy heart, but let your mind soar among the good and the pure and be thou pure in thy body and heart, and angels will stand by thee and will delight to whisper peace in thy heart. Pattern not after others, except their good, and the careless and indifferent you will find with associates will bend to thee and will acknowledge your superiority of purpose. Your own family will look to thee as a pattern and will follow thee and defend thy fair name.
There are many things in your life to be revealed hereafter, but let these promptings suffice for the present, and more and more will come to thee as you shall need it. I seal you up unto eternal life, a choice blessing above all things, with a discernment of the hearts of all that shall come to thee with their persuasions. Remember your blessings for they will be an anchor to thy soul and you will yet marvel at the things which shall come in to thy life. I seal up on your body the power of endurance forever, to preserve thyself in purity and you will have finally the right to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection. All this shall be gained through your faithfulness, for I seal it upon thy head in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
