Brother *****, by the authority of the holy Melchizedek Priesthood and in the office of Patriarch, I lay my hands upon your head and give you a patriarchal blessing. You now have lawful claim to all the blessings, hopes, and promises that have been extended to your forefathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. You are of this royal lineage and are numbered with the sons of Ephraim. You came through this lineage because you earned it and because you were prepared for it. It will be a blessing to you throughout your life and throughout all eternity. With these great blessings comes the responsibility to help build Zion and to gather scattered Israel. If you will continue to prepare yourself and have a desire, then you will be able to take the message of the gospel to the people of the world and fulfill a mission for the Lord. You will enjoy your mission and the Lord will bless you, protect you, and give you success if you will work for it.
In the pre-earth life you walked by sight, but now it is necessary to walk by faith. I bless you with the gift of faith; faith to live correct principles; faith to live in righteousness all the way to the celestial kingdom; faith to know that your Heavenly Father lives; and faith to know that He will receive and answer your prayers. Thank Him every day for your life, for the many good things of the earth that you are blessed with, and the privilege of living in a righteous family. If you will earnestly seek guidance, both morning and evening, you will be given inspiration sufficient to meet every challenge in your life.
Develop gospel scholarship by reading and by studying the scriptures daily. You will find your own experiences described there. You will find counsel, solutions, and the word of the Lord will tell you everything that you should do. To read His words is to hear His voice. Study, read, and learn, for it is as if you were being taught at the feet of the prophet.
I bless you with the gift to expound the scriptures. This gift will enable you to understand, to explain, and to teach. You shall have the opportunity to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the congregations of the church, in the classrooms, in the home, and to your own family. You will be able to teach with power, speak with confidence and clarity, and the Holy Ghost will carry the message to the hearts of those who listen. You shall have the power to heal the sick. Through your administration the Lord will bless the sick and the afflicted and you will see them rise from their beds of affliction.
Keep yourself pure and clean and when the time comes you will go to the house of the Lord and be sealed to your wife for time and all eternity. You shall enjoy the blessings of honored fatherhood. You shall have an honorable and intelligent posterity. Continue to honor your parents; love them, care for them, and when they are old, care for them as they have cared for you.
Honor your good name. The name you bear is part of your inheritance. Care about it, protect it, and add to it increased honor and dignity.
Be quick to forgive and forget and avoid resentment in any form. Be patient and tolerant, especially of those who have less talents and abilities than you do. Make right choices so that when the tests of life come you will not waiver in your trust of the Lord.
Choose your friends carefully and find among them those with whom you would like to go through life and all eternity. Remember that your friends can either help or hinder your progression.
I bless you with the gifts of courage and strength. These gifts will help you hold firm against the ordinary pressures of everyday life. They will help you face difficulties and overcome them.
Keep the Sabbath Day holy and always be worthy to partake of the sacrament. Be strict in living the word of wisdom that you might be strengthened in body and in mind, that the number of your years may be lengthened, and that your last years may be some of your best. If you will do these things you will receive all your blessings within the holy temple and be prepared in all things, when the time comes, to meet your Redeemer. No power shall separate you from the love of your Heavenly Father.
I bless you with the gifts of love, patience, humility, and meekness. These gifts will help you direct your thoughts toward the Lord and they will enable you to hearken unto the Holy Spirit to accept and believe gospel principals.
I leave a blessing upon you against the power of the destroyer: as long as you are in line with your duty and living as you should, no evil power will be able to deceive you or lead you astray. Be humble and obedient, for obedience is the doorway to your freedom. Remember that the Lord loves you and will grant you the righteous desires of your heart. I bless you to come forth on the morning of the first resurrection, crowned in glory, and blessed among those of your family and friends. I say this in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
