Franklin R. Davenport, I lay my hands upon your head according to your request, and in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, and by virtue of the holy priesthood of Melchizedek I seal upon you a patriarchal blessing, for it is your right to receive the blessings of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and of the new and everlasting covenant, for you are of the royal seed of Joseph, through the lineage of Ephraim, for great and eternal blessings are promised to that chosen seed. It is pleasing to the Lord that take this course, to receive a blessing from your Heavenly Father. You will be called to go to the nations of the Earth, and lift a warning voice that the day of the Son of Man is near at hand; when he will appear in the clouds of heaven, in great glory, taking vengeance on them that know not God, and obey not the commandments of Jesus Christ.

It is your privilege to enjoy the gifts, power, and priesthood of a messenger of salvation; having power to baptize, lay on hands for the reception of the Holy Ghost, and organize branches of the Church of Jesus Christ, as you may be head by the power of the Holy Ghost: to assist in the redemption of Zion: in attending all the duties required of an elder, in the Church of Jesus Christ. If you will give your mind to study the scriptures, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants, God will greatly bless you, and He will open up your mind, by the spirit of revelation, so that you will be able to teach with the demonstration of the spirit, and with power, so you will be a wonder unto your self. All these blessings and many more that you can not perceive of are yours if you will live for them, for all blessings are predicated upon our strict obedience to the laws and commandments of God. When that is carried out more of the purposes of the Almighty are revealed unto his servants, so that you can comprehend the mysteries of his kingdom.

Those matters that you do not now understand and desire to comprehend will be made clear unto you, so that your soul shall be filled with joy, thanksgiving and praise. God has blessed you with health, with bright intellect, with a clear mind. See that you use these blessings that God has given you to the building up of your Savior's kingdom. Seek and enjoy the society of the good and noble, virtue and pure, of both sexes. If you do so your counsel, and the spirit that God will give you, will be sought for by the Latter-day Saints. Your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life, and blessings will increase upon you. You may enjoy the spirit of prophecy, the gift of healing, and power to proclaim the truth through the Holy Ghost, the Comforter; that will soften the hearts of many that are now opposed to the truth; and you will be a marvel to yourself, because of the gifts and blessings that God will bestow, confer upon you, when you travel here and there, and go and come by the counsel of the servants of God.

You shall know the Angel of your presence is with you, for you will be preserved from danger seen and unseen. God loveth you. Listen to the whisperings of his spirit. Call upon his great and holy name, for the heavens and the eternal truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ shall be revealed unto you. Verily I say unto you, dear brother, it is in your own hand, by the help of God to do a mighty work upon the Earth: for these blessings are yours if you will be true to the covenants you make, and keep Gods commandments, not forgetting the words of wisdom, and the councils of his servants. I pray God to bless you, and to preserve you from the plagues, pestilence, and famine, that is soon coming upon the land. You shall become mighty upon the Earth. Your posterity shall rise up and call you blessed. In the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, I seal you up to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection; clothed with glory and eternal lives.
