Brother Edward John Whicker, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the power conferred upon me to bless and confer upon you a patriarchal blessing, inasmuch as you desire to know what God requires of you for you are of Israel, and an heir to the new and everlasting covenant. You have been miraculously preserved for a great and important work in the earth. And you shall stand as a representative and a leader in your father's household; and, if humble, you shall never depart from the faith you have espoused but the principles of the Gospel shall be unfolded to you in plainness that you can read them, as it were, as you run. And if humble no principle that has been or will be advanced shall be mysterious to your understanding. The greatest, glorious, and most pleasant labors of your life will be the expounding of the principles of the Gospel to those with whom you come in contact; and though small in stature you shall be a power in the earth in the defense of righteousness; and your voice shall penetrate the honest in heart and many shall be brought to a knowledge of the truth. And you shall enter the Temples of God and thousands will receive the gospel through your labors there. And you shall have power in the due time of the Lord to select a companion for life whose spirit will be congenial to yours and you shall have comfort and bless each other, and live in peace on the earth with a numerous posterity to bless and honor your name. Love virtue more than life and God will exalt you above your fellows. If you do this when your labors are finished upon the earth, you shall pass by the angels and gods to your exaltation feeling blessed in every experience you have gained; for I seal these blessings upon you with all your former blessings in the name of Jesus.
