Brother John: I lay my hands upon thy head and I bless thee with a patriarchal blessing by the authority of the Holy Priesthood invested in me to bless the saints. The Lord delights to own thee, my brother. Because thou hast been faithful over a few things the Lord will make thee Ruler over many, for thou hast left thy native land for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ. God will bless thee agreeable to the desires of thy heart in all things, for thy lineage is that of Ephraim. Though thou hast had trials to encounter, and shall have many more, the trial of thy faith shall be as precious as that of gold. Thou shalt overcome all thy enemies, both temporal and spiritual and thou can now see with the experience that thou hast had already, that the hand of the Lord has been in thy favor. Thou shalt be blessed with long life, even as long as thou desirest to live, with herds and flocks, with plenty to comfort thee in all thy journeyings of life. For God's angels will watch over thee for good and peace shall attend thy footsteps and thy habitation and the way of the Lord shall not be hid from thee. Thy posterity shall be honorable among men, for thou wilt see that there is good order in thy house, and the blessings of Abraham, both temporally and spiritually, shall attend thy journey in life. Thou shalt be able to overcome all thine enemies, though they shall beset thee on the right and on the left. And in the redemption of Zion, no enemy shall conquer thee, for thy life shall be precious before the Lord. Thou shalt live to see the temple of the Lord built in the mountains and attain to the ordinances therein, and thy dead shall be restored, even as many as thou wilt. Thou shalt live to see the nations of the earth brought down to great desolation through their wickedness; and see Zion spread her borders from land to sea, till this continent shall be peopled with the saints and the priesthood that shall be put upon thee shall be that to converse with angels, to overcome all enemies and finally to be saved in the Celestial Kingdom of our God, Even so Amen.
