ELIAS, MY SON: By the authority of my office, being a father and a Patriarch, I lay my hands upon thy head, according to the power given me by Jesus Christ; and thou shalt be blessed. And inasmuch as thou hast obeyed the Gospel, and hast never transgressed at any time, thou shalt become great and also do many great things; and thou shalt still prevail so that no one in this generation shall go before thee. Thou shalt exceed the Ancients in performing great things.
And although Satan has desired to have thee, and has sought many times to destroy thee, yet he has been baffled in his attempts, and he shall never prevail against thee. By the Priesthood thou shalt have power to say to the Devil: 'Get thee behind me.' Thou shalt have power also to escape the vigilance of thy enemies. Thou art, or we are, of the seed of Abraham, through the loins of Joseph, and thou art a lawful heir to the Priesthood, and all the blessings pertaining thereto.
Thou shalt have power over fire and over waters; thou shalt be enabled to perform great acts. Thou shalt be enabled through the Priesthood to bring up many of our dead friends. Thou shalt be a Prince, a King and a Priest unto the Most High, and shall reign over those whom thou hast power to redeem when the Savior shall come to reign on the earth. Thou shalt stand on Mount Zion with thy brother Jesse who has passed through the vale. You shall be arrayed with all the glory of innocence and shall receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken; and shall have power to look back on all the crooked and straightened places through which you have passed.
And as thou hast done all that was in thy power to maintain thy father and thy mother and thy brother and thy sisters, therefore, their desire shall be unto thee; and they shall all bless thee, and thou shalt be their prince forever.
These blessings I seal unto thee, being thy father and a Patriarch, and a Minister of Jesus Christ; and I say without any reserve that all these blessings shall come upon thee. Even so, Amen.
